Project Vote, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) and the Congreso de Latinos Unidos invite the Philadelphia community to register to vote and get voter information this Tuesday from 10 AM to 1 PM at Congreso’s North Philadelphia location. Come learn how to check registration status, find your polling location, determine what you need to bring to the polls and your rights as a voter.
Tuesday, October 9 is the deadline for voter registration in Pennsylvania. Project Vote, a national voting rights organization that supports voter registration drives across the country, is encouraging every eligible citizen to register to vote and vote this Election Day.
Project Vote’s Viviana Hurtado and NCLR’s Rafael Collazo will be on hand to meet with new and current voters and talk about why voting matters to the Latino community. El Zol’s Milca Madera will broadcast live from the event!
Hurtado says, “All signs indicate this will be another popular election and Project Vote encourages everyone to get involved in voting and have their voices heard.” Hurtado is the writer extraordinaire for the award-winning blog The Wise Latina Club, and occasional analyst for Univision’s Al Punto con Jorge Ramos and contributor to NPR.
Project Vote seeks to get the word out so voters will be ready for Election Day. While photo voter ID will not be required for voters who have voted in past elections, all new voters must bring some type of ID. “Your vote makes will make a difference,” says Hurtado. “Vote on November 6, and encourage your friends and family to vote. You may be asked by poll workers for an ID. You are not obligated to show a photo to vote unless you are a first time voter, but non-photo IDs are acceptable.”
