Project Vote and the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) invite the Miami community to Jimmy’z Kitchen to register to vote, get voter information, and enjoy treats this Saturday from 12 – 2 PM. Voter information will include information on how to check registration status, find your polling location, what you need to bring to the polls and your rights as a voter.
The deadline for voter registration is fast approaching. Project Vote, a national voting rights organization that supports voter registration drives across the country, is encouraging every eligible citizen to register to vote and vote this Election Day.
Project Vote’s Viviana Hurtado, Jeannette Kaplun, host of Univision’s Viva la Familia, and NCLR’s Natalie Carlier will be on hand to meet with new and current voters and talk about why voting matters to the Latino community.
Hurtado says, “All signs indicate this will be another popular election and Project Vote encourages everyone to get involved in voting and have their voices heard.” Hurtado is the writer extraordinaire for the award-winning blog The Wise Latina Club, and occasional analyst for Univision’s Al Punto con Jorge Ramos and contributor to NPR.
National Council of La Raza is running a multi-state Mobilize to Vote (M2V) campaign, which focuses on registering eligible Latinos to vote and providing forums for discussion on the issues that most affect the community. In the State of Florida, M2V has already registered close to 50,000 new voters.
