CREDO Empowers Customers to Support Progressive Nonprofits
San Francisco, CA – CREDO, America’s only progressive phone company, announced today that it is donating $57,589 to Project Vote for the group’s work in 2014 to ensure that every eligible American can register, vote, and cast a ballot that counts. CREDO has donated more than $76 million to organizations committed to social change since the company was founded in 1985.
“CREDO has long been an important partner in the war for voting rights, and we are very grateful for their continued support in this election year,” said Michael Slater, executive director of Project Vote. “The votes cast by CREDO members this month will help ensure that low-income, minority, youth, and other underrepresented Americans will be able to cast their votes on Election Day.”
Project Vote was nominated by CREDO customers and chosen among hundreds of nonprofits to be featured as one of three groups eligible in April to receive funding for its voting rights work. CREDO customers helped decide how much money each nonprofit received by simply voting online or via phone or text. (To learn more about CREDO’s donations program, go here:

This donation will support Project Vote’s work in 2014 to promote voting in historically underrepresented communities, and help fund legal and advocacy efforts to promote fair election administration, enforce federal voting rights laws, and combat voter suppression. In 2013, CREDO donated $2,638,084 to groups that worked to stop the acceleration of climate change, protect women’s rights and civil liberties, among many other progressive causes. Some of the groups CREDO funded in 2013 include 350.org, Color of Change, Social Security Works and Human Rights Watch.
