A bill to modernize Wisconsin’ voter registration system has reportedly died in the Senate, according to the Associated Press.

The Senate’s deadline to introduce bills was Thursday.

“Senate Majority Leader Russ Decker says the bill was introduced too late in the process for lawmakers to deal with it.

The proposal would have allowed Wisconsin residents to automatically register to vote when they signed up for a driver’s license. Voters could also register online for the first time under the bill, which included many other changes designed to make voting easier and stop vote suppression.”
