Hearings for important election bills are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, April 13

  • Tennessee Felon Voting Rights Restrictions bill, HB 969 is scheduled to be heard by the House Finance, Ways and Means Committee in HHR16 at 2:00 p.m.
Before restoring voting rights, this bill requires a person convicted of a felony to pay all fines and court costs.

Friday, April 16

  • Colorado Felon Voting Rights Restoration bill, SB 179 is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Appropriations Committee in SCR 356 at 7:30 a.m.
This bill amends election law to restore the voting rights of felons upon release from incarceration, whether on probation or parole. The bill further requires the Dept. of Corrections to facilitate voter registration, advise on voting rights, and provide voting materials to felons who are not under “inmate status,” which is to be defined as “incarcerated.” The bill would extend voting rights to those awaiting trial in a detention facility. Currently, the state does not allow felons who are incarcerated or on parole to vote.
