Project Vote welcomes Courtnay Sellers as legislative intern for the spring of 2016.
Courtnay Sellers works primarily on legislative tracking, policy research and analysis. As the President of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) at the George Mason School of Law, she organizes several big community service projects each semester. This spring, her group is collecting water bottles and donations for residents of Flint, Michigan. She is also partnering with local D.C. high schools to run large voter registration drives and educate students on the importance of voting. Prior to Project Vote, Courtnay focused primarily on public interest, working with organizations such as the Public Defender Service of D.C., and Legal Services of Northern Virginia. She received a B.A. in History from Virginia Tech, and currently attends the George Mason School of Law where she will obtain her J.D. this May.
“The right to vote is mentioned five times in the Constitution – more than any other right, and yet, millions of Americans remain disenfranchised by laws designed to strip them of their voting rights,” said Ms. Sellers. “I’m so excited to assist Project Vote in protecting the voting process and to help advance their mission.”
