Hearings for important election bills are scheduled as follows:
Today, June 15:
Massachusetts
- Preregistration bill, HB 683 will be heard on the House floor today. Under this bill, a person who is otherwise qualified may pre-register on or after that person’s sixteen and a half birthday and may vote in any election occurring on or after that person’s eighteenth birthday.
New York
- Youth Voting bill, HB 1837 will be heard on the Senate floor today. This bill would allow any full-time college student in New York to serve as an election inspector if the student speaks and reads English; is not running for office; and is registered to vote.
- Deceptive Practices bill, S 2554 will be heard on the Senate floor today. This bill makes deceptive practices and voter suppression tactics a civil violation.
- Youth Voting bill, S 4226 will be heard on the Senate floor today. This bill would allow a citizen who is 17 years old to vote in a presidential primary if he or she will be 18 by the following general election.
Pennsylvania
- Felon Voting Rights bill, H 1072 will be heard on the House floor. This bill provides released prisoners with voter registration materials. The Department of Corrections would provide registration materials to administrators of each institution.
Wednesday, June 16:
Delaware
- Preregistration bill, H 381 is scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Administrative Services/Elections Committee tomorrow in the Senate Chamber Meeting Room at 2:00 p.m.. This act would allow 16-year-old citizens to register to vote through the Division of Motor Vehicle when they first apply for their driver’s license.
