In a group effort with the New Jersey Department of Public Advocate and several other organizations, Project Vote filed papers on January 8 with the State Board of Education, proposing new regulations aimed at improving voter registration efforts in New Jersey schools.

In response to the proposal, New Jersey Department of Education has explained that they will need more time to deliberate further about this petition. In particular, they have indicated they need additional time to collect data in order to analyze the extent of current compliance with the statute, which requires high schools to provide voter registration forms and materials describing the roles of citizens and the importance of voting.
