Acceptable forms of ID at the polls

Regular voters -

Must show name and address:

• VA voter ID card

• Valid driver's license

• Military ID card

• Any federal, state or local government issued ID

• Employer issued photo ID card

• Social Security card²

First time voters who registered by mail -

Must show name and address:

• Current, valid photo ID

• Current utility bill, government check, paycheck or bank statement

• Another government document that shows name and address (except voter ID card)

If no ID

Regular voters -

Vote a regular ballot if the voter signs and Affirmation of Identity.

First time voters who registered by mail -

Vote a conditional ballot.
