MISSISSIPPI

ID necessary at the polls?

Yes – for all first time voters who registered by mail who did not previously provide a copy of ID.1

Acceptable forms of ID at the polls:

Must show name and address:

  • Current and valid photo ID

  • Utility Bill

  • Bank statement

  • Paycheck

  • Government check

  • Other government document that shows the name and address of the voter.

If no ID:

Vote a provisional ballot.

Ballots are then counted on Election Day, so there is no period of time after casting a provisional ballot with which to prove identity, unless the voter returns to the polls with ID later that same day.2
