ID necessary at the polls

Yes - for first time voters who:

  • registered by mail who did not previously provide a copy of ID

  • have never voted in an election for federal office in Connecticut and haven't been matched by their driver's license or Social Security numbers or

  • have not previously voted in an election for federal office in the municipality, if the municipality is not using the State of Connecticut Centralized Voter Registration System.1

  • If it is, then the voter must either present ID or sign the affidavit at the polling place2

Acceptable forms of ID at the polls:

Must show name and address:

  • Photo ID

  • Utility bill

  • Bank statement

  • Government check

  • Paycheck

  • Other government document

If no ID:

Vote a provisional ballot.
